About Me: Computers
|
I introduced myself a little bit on the main page, but this page is for more of an autobiography.
I started my obsession with computers when I was very young. My family had an old Pre-Windows 95 computer that still used
the "big" floppy disks and ran very slowly. I received my first computer when I was about 8 years old. It was on Windows 95
and my parents got it cheap from the company they worked for. It was a limited resource when it came to computers, because
a few years later that all changed.
In 2000, I was given an HP Pavilion Desktop for Christmas and I was ecstatic. It ran Win 98, had a CD drive (it was a new thing back then)
and was FAST... Well... 533mHz. :) This new tool sparked my interest in computers and what they could do.
After messing around with my new computer I got into graphics design. I used Microsoft Image Composer, which is a great, simple program
for making graphics, editing photos, etc, and I still use it today. While I explored the world of graphic design, my brother, Jordan, started
making websites. I had no idea how to make a website back then and I was fascinated. That fascination led to this website you are looking at right now.
In 2003 I was working as a Graphics Designer for a project known as "City Builder", a multi-player game similar to Sim City. My brother
was the Chief Programmer and we were well on our way to completion. Through the middle of the project, a few of my fellow workers confronted me with a problem.
They told me I was no use just as a graphics designer. They told me if I wanted to stay on the job, I needed to learn HTML.
And so, I did. As a matter of fact, I mastered basic HTML in around 3 hours. I kept practicing and eventually learned CSS. Now I am learning
PHP, and am well on my way to becoming a true web designer. I have done a few payed websites for people that you can find in my Portfolio.
Now I use an eMachines M5309 laptop with XP Home and Slackware Linux. I`m looking into Apple computers as my next computer because of their
awesome software for audio recording and web design. I mean, look at Mac computers. They are MADE for designers like me.
That pretty much wraps up my computer bio. You can learn more about my computer experience in my Portfolio.

About Me: Hobbies and Music
|
By reading everything above, you now probably think I am a total computer geek who has no life at all.. So that`s what this
section is for. ;)
My main interests besides computers are: Guitar, Photography, Outdoor Stuff, etc. I`ve played the guitar for almost a year now. I started
last Christmas with an Ibanez Acoustic and a few months later bought a Yamaha Pacifica electric. I play anything from RelientK to my own music. I also own
a Line 6 Spider II 112 amp, Barber Tone Press compressor, and a Danelectro Fish & Chips EQ. I really love playing the guitar and I record my own music which I
will post up here soon.
I lived in Alaska for 8 years, and that`s where my outdoor hobbies came from. My family and I would go hiking, kayaking, and just do stuff outside.
Alaska is the most beautiful place on the earth, so if you are thinking of going there, do it.
My dad has been in photography for a long time, so I have kind of followed in his footsteps. I take B&W pictures with a 35mm Cannon camera
and develop them myself. So, that`s a quick overview of some of my hobbies.
